The Power of Face-to-Face Connections with Your Recruiting Firm

Since 2020, Simón de Swaan and Mitch Marron have combined their experience, talent, and shared passion for connecting people with opportunity. That’s us, and together as Simarron (a combination of our names), we teamed up to build a strategic talent recruiting business that’s rooted in integrity, partnership, and a commitment to being the recruiting partners of choice for our clients.

We are Senior Recruiting Partners with Goodwin Recruiting and our business and reputation are built on one simple truth: Talent recruiting is a relationship-driven industry. Success doesn’t come from algorithms or automation; it comes from genuine human connection.

Through the years, one reality has stood the test of time in talent recruiting and always will – and that is the extraordinary value of face-to-face (F2F) interactions between talent recruiters and hiring companies.

Relationships are built by looking beyond the screen

While digital connections have never been easier in today’s world of Zoom calls, FaceTime chats, texts, and quick phone calls, these conveniences come with a risk: forgetting the power of a handshake, a shared conversation over coffee, or a site visit that deepens understanding and trust.

At Simarron, we believe that investing in face-to-face meetings is investing in your business and employer brand. In-person interactions allow you and us to pick up on non-verbal cues, body language, eye contact, tone of voice, and facial expressions – all of which contribute to a meaningful exchange and build trust.

Knowing when to meet in person versus digitally makes all the difference in how partnerships begin, grow, and thrive. That said, technology does play an important role in talent recruiting.

When digital meetups make sense

Digital tools are invaluable in certain circumstances. Here are a few examples of when virtual meetings are the right choice to serve our clients best:

  • When you have an immediate talent need: Speed matters when you have a time-sensitive and critical role to fill. Virtual meetings allow for fast, focused collaboration.
  • When there’s significant geographic distance between us: Different time zones and travel arrangements and costs can make digital connections the most efficient option.
  • When multiple stakeholders are involved: It’s often easier and more efficient to get everyone together online, especially when stakeholders are dispersed across departments or regions.

Face-to-face meetups make a big difference

There are times when nothing replaces showing up in person.

  • New client meetings: Meeting face-to-face with new or prospective clients sets the tone for talent acquisition partnerships for everyone involved. It is mutually beneficial in building credibility, trust, and a strong foundation from the very start.
  • Existing client engagements: Relationships thrive on in-person reinforcement and shared successes. Here’s a great example. Goodwin Recruiting was a presenting sponsor for the 2025 New Mexico Open golf tournament. We partnered with Turtleback Mountain Golf and Resort, our valued client of three years, with whom we’ve placed seven exceptional job candidates. We wanted to show our appreciation for their continued trust through this joint sponsorship and camaraderie at the event.

Make time for what matters in talent recruiting

Technology has transformed the way talent recruiters and hiring companies work, but it hasn’t changed what matters most: people.

At Goodwin Recruiting, we know that strong relationships don’t just happen. They’re built, nurtured, and strengthened through meaningful and ongoing connections. So, when you’re wondering whether it’s better to hop on a call or a plane, remember that sometimes, showing up in person says everything.

Throughout our journey at Simarron, we have made it a priority to visit as many clients as possible. These meetings aren’t just about business. They’re about connection, understanding, and showing you firsthand how deeply we’re invested in your success.

Get in touch today and let’s build a relationship that results in a stronger, more strategic talent acquisition strategy for your business.
