Special Thanks to All Professionals Working During the Holidays
Goodwin Recruiting | Career Advice, Hiring Advice | December 16, 2025
Working the holidays is a fact of life for millions of Americans. If this includes you, please know that we see you, we thank you, and we deeply appreciate your sacrifice. This time of year can be difficult for professionals who miss out on the joyful holiday season, including year-end and New Year celebrations that so many people take for granted.
Yet you show up, rain, snow, or shine because society still needs healthcare, safety, power, and transportation. People still travel, dine out, and seek entertainment outside their homes. And people still shop – more, not less – during the holidays.
You keep our towns and cities running, giving up special holiday events so others can enjoy their own – and we want to say thank you.
Your time and contributions deserve recognition
We believe one of the most important holiday messages to share is one of gratitude. All of us here at Goodwin Recruiting want to acknowledge and thank everyone who is working this holiday season, and we hope others will join us.
We want to express gratitude and heartfelt appreciation for professionals who bring expertise and essential skills to the following areas of operation, which we serve throughout the year through our talent recruiting services – and all areas of operation that require holiday staffing.
Healthcare and Emergency Operations
Emergencies, illnesses, accidents, and births never take holidays. Nor do doctors, nurses, paramedics, hospital technicians, lab staff, or long-term care and hospice workers. We’re grateful to all professionals who are working during this festive season to staff hospitals and emergent care facilities, care for patients, and calm families, delivering healthcare when it’s needed most.
You carry the weight of this critical responsibility so others can have peace of mind knowing you’re there. Your dedication and teamwork make the holidays safer for everyone.
Hospitality and Entertainment Operations
Working in hospitality and entertainment operations is hard work year-round, especially during the holidays, a peak business period. At Goodwin Recruiting, we know because we’ve been there. Many of our recruiting partners come from hospitality backgrounds. In fact, our founder, Eric Goodwin, comes from a background in hospitality management. He owns and is involved with many restaurant concepts.
We know what it takes to manage a restaurant, hotel, resort, or entertainment business, and how hard it is to be away from your loved ones during the holidays. Yet you keep the doors open and the business humming, providing guests with a warm meal, a welcoming place to relax, and fun things to see and do – even in the face of daunting challenges.
Restaurant managers, for example, often get last-minute phone calls from employees claiming illness or transportation issues that prevent them from working their holiday shifts. Someone must take up the slack, and that team member is usually the restaurant manager, the hotel manager, the kitchen manager, or the head chef. Their willingness to put in long hours reflects a level of dedication and leadership that is essential to the success of the business, even if it isn’t always recognized.
All of us at Goodwin Recruiting appreciate your hard work and the specialized skills and spirit of hospitality you bring to hotels, restaurants, event and entertainment venues, tour and cruise lines, and other hospitality and entertainment businesses.
Transportation and Logistics Operations
Millions of people are traveling to unite with family and friends or simply escape this holiday season. As travel surges, goods must also keep moving at an accelerated pace. None of this is possible without professionals who keep planes flying, trains, trucks, and public transport running, and goods on the move.
Through long shifts and peak holiday demand, transportation and logistics professionals make connections possible at the cost of their own holiday time. Because they show up, reunions happen, shelves stay stocked, and the season unfolds right for everyone else.
We’re grateful for airline pilots and cabin crews, airport personnel, ground crews, air traffic controllers, truck drivers, railroad engineers and conductors, and public transport operators who are hard at work this holiday season.
Retail and Grocery Operations
As holiday demand peaks and work schedules stretch into long hours, retail and grocery store management and employees keep store shelves stocked, lines moving, prescriptions filled, vehicles fueled, and the wants and needs of consumers within quick reach. These professionals make celebrations possible by handling the rush with patience, a positive attitude, professionalism, and genuine care.
We thank these professionals, without whom the holidays would be very different, including retail and grocery store managers and employees, convenience store managers and employees, big box and pharmacy retail staff, and warehouse fulfillment personnel.
Public Safety Institutions
While people are spending time with family and friends this holiday season, our essential public safety professionals remain on duty around-the-clock. They are responding to emergencies, fighting fires, taking frantic calls and dispatching units to protect, save, rescue, and transport members of our communities to hospitals.
Their presence ensures that gatherings and celebrations can unfold safely, and that trained professionals will be there to help if the unexpected occurs. The holidays are brighter and safer because our police officers, firefighters, 911 dispatchers, paramedics, and EMTs are standing watch and at-the-ready if disaster strikes.
Thank you to all professionals for showing up when it matters most.
Your unwavering dedication makes the holidays possible for everyone else.
Consider other options if you’re ready for a change
While we are filled with gratitude for all essential workers during the holidays and year-round, we recognize that for some professionals, there comes a time when a change is necessary. Maybe you’re ready for a well-deserved break or improved well-being. Becoming a remote recruiting partner can be a very rewarding way to take your industry knowledge and put it to use in a new way.
Or, perhaps you are simply ready to work for a new company or new industry or take the next step in your career. We’re here to help with your transition. Much like professionals in hospitality provide a soft place for travelers to land, we want you to know that when you’re ready for something new, we’re here to help you find the right opportunity where you can make a positive impact.
