SENIOR DATA SCIENTIST – INSURTECH STARTUP

Our client, a cutting-edge startup transforming the insurance space with AI and analytics, is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join their growing team. If you're looking to apply advanced modeling and GenAI in a real-world, high-impact environment, this role offers the chance to lead from the front.

You’ll work on complex, meaningful problems at the intersection of data science, financial risk, and unstructured insurance data. This is a high-autonomy role for a pragmatic, hands-on builder who thrives in fast-paced, early-stage environments.

SENIOR DATA SCIENTIST REQUIREMENTS

  • 7+ years of experience in applied data science (or PhD + 3 years)
  • Strong Python (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow) and SQL skills
  • Experience with LLMs, GenAI pipelines, or agentic workflows
  • Solid grasp of statistics, causal inference, and ML models (GLMs, trees, ensembles)
  • Proven ability to deploy models in production environments
  • Excellent communicator who can explain complex models clearly
  • Experience working with unstructured data at scale (NLP, tagging, document parsing)

SENIOR DATA SCIENTIST RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and implement pipelines for LLM-based extraction, NLP tagging, and document processing
  • Build predictive models to identify risk indicators and surface portfolio-level insights
  • Collaborate with engineering to deploy models with rigorous validation and observability
  • Read insurance documents (e.g. claims, policies) and work with industry experts to inform model logic
  • Support client-facing teams with analytics deliverables and use case development
