A leading national law firm is seeking a Billing Specialist to support its finance operations out of the Indianapolis office. This full-time position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with legal billing experience who thrives in a collaborative, high-performing environment.

Billing Specialist Benefits/Compensation

  • Starting salary of $65,000+, commensurate with experience
  • Optional 3-2 hybrid work schedule (3 days in-office, up to 2 days remote per week after training)

Billing Specialist Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of legal billing experience
  • Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred; High School Diploma required
  • Experience with legal billing software such as Aderant, Elite, etc.
  • Familiarity with electronic billing tools (BillBlast, eBillingHub)
  • Knowledge of LEDES formats and UTMBS codes
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
  • Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

Billing Specialist Responsibilities

  • Process full-cycle billing: invoices, statements, audit letters, and electronic submissions
  • Collaborate with attorneys and finance team to ensure compliance with client billing requirements
  • Review and address invoice deductions; recommend improvements to reduce future discrepancies
  • Maintain billing records, update client/matter details, and monitor discount/rate arrangements
  • Generate reports, analyze billing data, and propose process improvements
  • Support month-end proforma runs and year-end WIP analysis
  • Serve as backup to team members to ensure timely completion of billing tasks
  • Provide best-in-class service to attorneys, clients, and vendors with professionalism and responsiveness
