Occupational Therapist – Full-Time | $80,000/year
Location: New York, NY
A growing independent special education school is seeking a passionate, creative, and collaborative Occupational Therapist (OT) to support a diverse group of early childhood and elementary students. This is a 12-month full-time role, with a summer term running July 5 – August 16 and a traditional school year from September through June.
The ideal candidate is a licensed OT who thrives in a team-oriented, learner-centered environment, enjoys working with young children, and values continuous professional development.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Support
- Provide 1:1 and small group OT services (typically 2x/week for 30 minutes per student)
- Conduct both formal and informal assessments to determine individual student needs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists (Speech, PT, Counseling), and paraprofessionals
- Track and communicate student progress with teachers and families
- Push into classrooms as needed to support integration and inclusion
Planning & Documentation
- Develop and maintain individual plans aligned with student goals
- Complete monthly summaries and narrative logs
- Prepare reports for progress meetings, CSEs, and hearings as required
- Attend regular team meetings with relevant updates
What You’ll Need:
- Current and valid New York State License in Occupational Therapy
- National Provider Identification (NPI) number
- Experience working with children ages 4–12, ideally in a school-based or clinical setting
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Physical ability to actively support students in a dynamic school environment (e.g., walking, bending, lifting, assisting students as needed)
