We are looking for an experienced and driven ICC Certified Building Official to join our Building and Safety Group. This is a unique opportunity to become an integral part of our skilled, collaborative, and motivated building inspection team.
Building Official Requirements:
- Valid ICC Certified Building Official Certificate Required
- 4+ years experience with a Building Department.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Required.
Building Official Responsibilities:
- Oversee the implementation and management of activities related to building standards, including plan checks, inspections, and permit issuance, ensuring compliance at all stages.
- Develop and execute division goals, objectives, policies, and priorities to support efficient building practices.
- Establish and maintain a system that ensures consistency within the department for thorough and effective plan reviews.
- Provide guidance and support to building staff by developing, training, mentoring, and managing procedures and methods for efficient implementation of building practices.
- Be available to assist staff with resolving technical questions related to various code requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to discuss building code provisions and construction methods.
- Present to the City Council/County Supervisors, commissions, and other groups, explaining city policies to the public, developers, and builders.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with government bodies, private firms, organizations, and individuals to achieve client objectives and ensure compliance with relevant laws and standards.
- Work closely with the City Manager, County CEO, Director of Public Works, and other division heads to coordinate building services activities.
- Prepare and manage budgets, reports, and communications related to building services.
- Perform other related duties as required.
