We are looking for a hands-on, floor-oriented Manufacturing Equipment Engineer to join our expanding team. This position focuses on ensuring the reliability, performance, and ongoing improvement of ePTFE manufacturing systems. Responsibilities include managing specialized equipment such as extrusion, calendaring, stretching, sintering, and skiving machines, along with implementing automation and preventive maintenance to ensure safe, consistent, and compliant production.

Manufacturing Equipment Engineer Qualifications

  • 5+ years in equipment or maintenance engineering within manufacturing; ePTFE/PTFE/fluoropolymer experience preferred
  • Proven ownership of extrusion, stretching, sintering, and web/tube handling equipment (alignment, tension control, calibration)
  • Hands-on experience with PLC/HMI systems (Allen-Bradley/Siemens), servo/VFD tuning, and automation or sensor integration
  • Experience in regulated manufacturing environments (ISO 13485 / 21 CFR 820) and validation protocols (IQ/OQ/PQ, change control)
  • Ability to read and create schematics, P&IDs, and mechanical/electrical drawings
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar CAD, CMMS systems, and root cause problem-solving (A3, 8D, DMAIC)
  • BS/MS in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering, or related technical field

Manufacturing Equipment Engineer Responsibilities Include

  • Manage equipment uptime, reliability, and preventive/predictive maintenance programs (TPM/CMMS)
  • Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions to minimize downtime and boost OEE
  • Design and implement mechanical/electrical upgrades and automation improvements (sensors, data capture, recipe control)
  • Support PLC/HMI modifications, servo/VFD tuning, and SCADA/data integration
  • Plan and execute IQ/OQ/PQ for equipment; develop and maintain calibration and validation documentation
  • SOPs, PM job plans, wiring diagrams/P&IDs, BOMs, and parts lists; train techs and operators.
  • Collaborate with Process and R&D teams on equipment design, tech transfer, and new line startup
  • Operate in accordance with ISO 13485 & 21 CFR 820 for medical and ISO 9001 for industrial manufacturing lines; support audits and CAPA/NCR resolutions
  • Support safety initiatives, including lockout/tagout, guarding, and risk assessments to ensure OSHA and EHS compliance
