Our client is a power distribution component manufacturer with a long and exciting history. They are primed for aggressive expansion into new and existing markets. We are seeking a Switchgear Product Design Optimization Engineer with a focus on driving manufacturing efficiency and productivity across their product lines. The role will focus on streamlining design variations and standardizing components, layouts and documentation.
Switchgear Product Design Optimization Engineer Responsibilities:
- Develop and update mechanical approval and manufacturing drawings inclusive of sheet metal fabrication details and Bill of Materials
- Design sheet metal enclosures for electrical equipment according to ANSI/NEMA standards for both indoor and outdoor installations.
- Prepare equipment plan, elevation, side and cross-section views, and lifting details.
- Create component arrangement drawings based on the electrical bills of material.
- Provide technical support to sales and distributors as needed
- Support company-wide initiatives, including quality improvement projects to maintain best-in-class service
Switchgear Product Design Optimization Engineer Qualifications:
- BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years experience in switchgear/switchboard design
- Proven success leading design optimization projects with power distribution equipment
- Experience with Engineered to Order products
- Experience working with low and medium voltage products.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD or other software
- Experience with the design of sheet metal enclosures for electrical equipment and familiarity with UL, NEC, IEEE, ANSI industry standards for electrical assemblies.
