Restaurant General Manager Requirements and Qualifications

  • Strong, stable work history in a high-volume casual dining or production-style kitchen environment
  • Proven leadership background with experience overseeing diverse restaurant teams
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and operational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and retain high-performing teams
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background and drug screening

Restaurant General Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations across Front and Back of House
  • Ensure food quality, safety, sanitation, and service standards are met
  • Manage budgets, labor, and full P&L accountability
  • Recruit, train, and develop team members for long-term success
  • Foster a positive culture built on hospitality, teamwork, and accountability

Restaurant General Manager Preferred Skills

  • Background in high-volume or production-style restaurant operations
  • Strong understanding of inventory, cost control, and labor management
  • Ability to drive guest satisfaction through genuine hospitality and team engagement
  • Proven history of improving operations and achieving performance goals
  • Comfortable using POS and back-office systems for scheduling and reporting
  • Skilled at fostering a culture of accountability and teamwork
