Litigation Legal Assistant

Litigation Legal Assistant Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Litigation Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary in a law firm setting.
  • Strong knowledge of litigation procedures and court rules (state and federal).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management abilities.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor and a proactive, team-oriented attitude.

Litigation Legal Assistant Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Prepare, format, and proofread pleadings, motions, discovery, and correspondence.
  • Manage attorney calendars, court deadlines, and case timelines.
  • File documents electronically in federal and state courts (e-filing experience required).
  • Maintain and organize case files (both electronic and hard copy).
  • Schedule hearings, depositions, mediations, and client meetings.
  • Communicate with clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel in a professional manner.
  • Track billable time accurately and assist with monthly billing as needed.
  • Provide general administrative support to assigned attorneys and litigation teams.
