We have an immediate opening for a Construction Project Controller located in beautiful Gillette, Wyoming. Relocation is required. Construction Project Controller Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and monitor project budgets and forecasts in coordination with Project Managers
  • Track and analyze project costs, including labor, materials, subcontractors, and equipment
  • Prepare monthly financial reports for active projects, including variance analysis
  • Ensure timely and accurate entry of project-related invoices, change orders, and purchase orders
  • Assist with cost-to-complete reporting, cash flow projections, and schedule of values
  • Maintain documentation for audits, including contracts, receipts, and supporting reports
  • Support project teams with budget setup, coding, and cost control best practices
  • Participate in project kickoff and closeout meetings to ensure financial alignment
  • Assist with monthly billing cycles and progress payment applications
  • Identify risks and cost overruns early and make recommendations to management
  • Ensure compliance with internal accounting controls and external audit requirements
  • Collaborate with the finance department to reconcile project records and general ledger entries
  • Support financial planning and resource allocation discussions during project lifecycle
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Education/Certifications/Licenses Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Construction Management, or a related field required
  • PMP, CMA, or construction accounting certifications are a plus

What do you need?

  • 3–5 years of experience in financial project control, cost analysis, or project accounting in the construction industry
  • Familiarity with construction project lifecycle, contracts, and billing structures
  • Experience with ERP or project accounting software (e.g., Procore, Viewpoint, Sage 300 CRE) is preferred

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Strong understanding of construction cost control, financial analysis, and budgeting
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with data analytics/reporting tools
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including operations, finance, and project management
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and timeliness
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interpret complex financial information and present it in a clear, actionable manner
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time 8-10hrs.

Working Environment

  • Primarily work in an office setting with some travel to and from different business locations
  • Standard business hours, though flexibility is often required to accommodate schedules and deadlines.
  • Use of video conferencing tools for virtual meetings and presentations with clients and team members.
  • Must be adaptable to the dynamic nature of the construction industry and its financial cycles.
