Our client is a fast-growing compounding pharmacy organization with a focus on innovation, quality, and patient safety. They’re expanding their leadership team and looking for a hands-on Research and Development Manager to lead formulation design and process improvement for both sterile and non-sterile compounded products. This is a unique opportunity to drive innovation at scale while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a highly regulated environment.

Research and Development Manager Benefits & Compensation:

Research and Development Manager Requirements & Qualifications:

  • PharmD or Bachelor’s in Pharmacy required; advanced degree in related field preferred
  • 5+ years of compounding (sterile and non-sterile), 2+ years in R&D formulation leadership
  • Knowledge of USP <795>, <797>, <800>, FDA guidelines, and cGMP standards
  • Strong understanding of formulation development, analytical testing, and regulatory documentation
  • BCSCP certification or equivalent preferred

Must Haves:

  • Design and develop new formulations across sterile and non-sterile product lines
  • Conduct feasibility studies, literature reviews, and stability testing
  • Lead documentation of formulation trials, testing results, and validation protocols
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with pharmacy, quality, and operations teams
  • Train and mentor staff on new processes and compounding techniques
  • Maintain regulatory compliance and proactively address technical inquiries

Preferred Background & Skills:

  • Experience bringing compounded products from concept through validation
  • Deep knowledge of hazardous and non-hazardous product compounding
  • Ability to translate clinical or market needs into viable formulations
  • Project management experience with the ability to juggle multiple priorities
  • Curious mindset with a strong drive for innovation and continuous improvement
