Assistant General Manager

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Assistant to the General Manager to support the day-to-day operations of an 8-acre scrap metal recycling facility, including a 15,000 sq ft office building.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in overseeing the daily operations of the scrap metal recycling facility, ensuring the smooth running of all departments
  • Support the General Manager with detailed reporting on production, inventory, grading, processing, and material upgrades
  • Help coordinate maintenance and repairs for the facility (non-processing), including grounds maintenance, roofing, concrete repairs, electrical systems, and more
  • Assist in managing the facility's non-ferrous processing operations, including the HRB baler and wire chopper, ensuring optimal performance
  • Provide administrative support, including data collection, reporting, scheduling, and organizing materials for testing
  • Help manage the retail operations and customer service needs, ensuring excellent service standards are maintained

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in facility management within the scrap metal industry
  • Significant experience in retail scrap operations, including knowledge of processing machinery and equipment such as stationary shears, HRB bailers, wire choppers, and mobile shears
  • Proven ability to supervise and coordinate a team of 25+ employees
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and support multiple aspects of facility management
