We are seeking a skilled and motivated Sous Chef with proven experience in high-volume catering and a strong background in scratch kitchens. The ideal candidate is a reliable team player with a passion for food, leadership, and delivering memorable culinary experiences to groups of 200 or more people.
Sous Chef Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Executive Chef in the preparation, execution, and oversight of all catered events
- Lead and supervise kitchen staff during prep and event service
- Ensure food quality, consistency, and presentation standards are met or exceeded
- Manage kitchen inventory, food ordering, and prep lists
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant kitchen environment
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff
- Support menu planning, tastings, and client customizations
- Work off-site at event locations as needed, ensuring smooth service execution
Sous Chef Requirements/Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a Sous Chef or Lead Cook role
- Must have a valid Drivers License
- Prior experience in high-volume catering or banquet service (200+ guests required)
- Proven background in scratch cooking and recipe execution
- Strong organizational, time management, and leadership skills
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and flexible hours based on event schedule
- ServSafe certification preferred
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to event sites around Southern Indiana
