Our Client is building the world’s first AI-powered back office platform designed specifically for accounting firms. Their tools eliminate the grind of manual tax prep, by streamlining data extraction from complex forms like K-1s and K-3s. Backed by $6.6M in seed funding from top-tier VCs, they’re entering a high-growth phase — and looking for a trailblazing tax expert to shape the future with them.

Head of Tax Innovation Role:

This is not your average CPA gig. As the in-house tax domain expert, you’ll work directly with the founders and engineering team to bring intelligence and insight into how their automation technology is built and scaled. You’ll help optimize data models, design new product features, and serve as the source of truth for complex tax matters. This role is ideal for a high-agency CPA who is excited by AI, enjoys working across product, data, and

customer-facing efforts, and the challenge of reimagining how tax software should work in the 21st century.

Head of Tax Innovation Responsibilities:

  • Own the tax domain vision within their AI platform
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to improve data extraction algorithms, workflows, and help design new, greenfield products.
  • Identify gaps and lead the development of new features related to pass-through, multi-state, and tiered entity taxation
  • Act as a go-to subject matter expert for customer-facing efforts
  • Stay ahead of evolving tax regulations and help ensure tools reflect them

Head of Tax Innovation Qualifications:

  • CPA with 2–6 years in public accounting
  • Extensive experience with complex entities (K-1s, K-3s, state-level forms)
  • Hands-on experience with tools like CCH Axcess, ProSystem fx, GoSystem, SurePrep, SafeSend, K1x
  • Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with JSON or structured data is a bonus
  • Excellent communication skills and a comfort with ambiguity
  • Self-starter mindset — thrives in a fast-moving, startup environment

  • Previous exposure to product development or tax tech innovation
