We're looking for a skilled and experienced Building Official to join our team of dedicated professionals. This role is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, self-driven individual to take on diverse and engaging assignments. Building Official Requirements:

  • Lead and supervise building department staff, ensuring efficient operations and adherence to best practices.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining strong professional relationships.
  • Interpret and apply building codes, regulations, and departmental procedures in daily operations to ensure consistent compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state and local code requirements, including timely reporting and documentation.
  • Participate in departmental and community meetings as requested by the client to represent the building department and provide updates.
  • Conduct plan reviews for both residential and commercial projects across all trades.
  • Provide inspection support when necessary to maintain workflow and meet project timelines.

Building Official Experience:

  • Proven experience in managing building department operations, including staff supervision and client relations.
  • Strong background in conducting plan reviews and inspections for both residential and commercial structures.
  • In-depth understanding of local building codes, regulations, and departmental procedures.
  • Skilled in team leadership with the ability to guide, support, and develop building department personnel.
  • Adept at managing client expectations and fostering positive working relationships in a government or municipal setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other standard business software, with strong overall computer literacy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.

Building Official Certification:

  • FL Building Official License 
  • Broward County Board of Rules & Appeals Approval
