Design Engineer – Marine / Luxury Yachts
A high-performance boat manufacturer is seeking a Design Engineer with direct marine vessel design experience to support the development of advanced luxury yacht platforms. This is a hands-on, collaborative role focused on translating concepts into production-ready designs that drive performance, quality, and manufacturability.
Responsibilities
- Design and engineer composite hulls, decks, and structural components
- Develop conceptual layouts considering performance, strength, weight, and production constraints
- Produce detailed 3D models and production drawings using SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar CAD tools
- Maintain accurate, production-ready engineering documentation
- Evaluate structural performance and implement design optimizations
- Select composite materials, cores, and laminates
- Support prototypes, first articles, and ongoing production
- Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams to resolve build challenges and incorporate shop-floor feedback
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience in marine or boat design engineering
- Strong knowledge of composite boat construction
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software
- Structural analysis experience is a plus
- Ability to take designs from concept through production
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
