Sous Chef Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Sous Chef
  • At least 5 years of culinary experience in a high-volume kitchen
  • Valid New York Food Handler’s License
  • Proven leadership skills (formal or natural ability to lead teams)
  • Strong knife skills (must provide own knives)
  • Engage directly with guests in a warm and welcoming manner—our open kitchen encourages conversation, curiosity, and connection
  • Solid knowledge of food safety standards and compliance
  • Experience in fast-paced, upscale/polished dining environments

Sous Chef Preferred Background & Skills:

  • Lead a station from prep through service with consistency and attention to detail
  • Manage kitchen inventory and vendor relationships, including placing and tracking orders
  • Execute daily meal prep with precision, speed, and efficiency
  • Ensure all prep, service, and storage areas meet DOH sanitation and safety standards
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and cleanliness during service
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new, seasonal, market-driven dishes
  • Follow restaurant closing procedures to ensure a clean and organized kitchen at end of service
