We’re conducting a search on behalf of a well-established event venue in Toronto, Canada, seeking a Director of Sales and Catering to lead its dynamic team through the next phase of growth and innovation.
This is a standout opportunity for an experienced sales and events leader who thrives in high-volume, hospitality-driven environments—and is motivated by relationship-building, operational excellence, and team leadership.
The successful candidate will oversee all event sales and catering functions, manage a talented team, and serve as a critical bridge between clients, culinary leadership, and front-of-house operations.
This is a high-impact, client-facing role within a well-supported and professional organization offering strong long-term potential.
Director of Sales and Catering Responsibilities:
- Lead the daily sales and catering function for a venue generating over $9 million annually in event sales
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of event sales professionals and coordinators
- Cultivate and maintain client relationships to ensure repeat business and exceptional event experiences
- Oversee proposals, negotiations, and contracts in alignment with internal policies
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef on menu planning, pricing, and tastings
- Work with the Banquet Manager to ensure seamless execution, staffing, and guest satisfaction
- Personally coordinate and be onsite for a minimum of one event per month
- Conduct regular sales meetings, assign files, and ensure team balance and accountability
- Analyze trends, track lost business, and provide regular revenue and activity reports to leadership
- Contribute to marketing strategy and promotional materials in partnership with the internal marketing team
Director of Sales and Catering Qualifications:
- 7+ years of progressive experience in event sales, catering, or hospitality management
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills with experience managing a team
- Proven ability to drive sales and negotiate high-value contracts
- Deep understanding of catering operations, BEOs, and event planning logistics
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with culinary, banquet, and marketing teams
- Excellent communication, organizational, and client service skills
- Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and sales tracking/reporting tools
- Detail-oriented with a results-driven and guest-focused mindset
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive base salary: CAD $85,000–$100,000, depending on experience
- Performance-based commission tied to personal or team sales targets
- 2 weeks vacation
- Standard benefits package available after probationary period
