Professional Services Firm | Dallas, TX (Onsite)

A well-established professional services organization is seeking a Controller to lead and strengthen its accounting operations during a period of operational improvement and systems modernization.

This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys bringing structure, visibility, and operational discipline to financial processes. The Controller will work closely with firm leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong cash management practices, and effective communication of financial information to decision-makers.

This position offers the opportunity to step into a visible leadership role where you can stabilize operations, mentor a capable accounting team, and help build financial processes that support continued growth.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead all core accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Maintain strong oversight of cash management, banking relationships, and daily financial operations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to leadership, providing clear visibility into firm performance and financial position.
  • Partner with leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, and operational decision-making.
  • Evaluate existing accounting workflows and implement improvements that increase efficiency and reliability.
  • Lead and mentor an established accounting team while helping strengthen processes and accountability.
  • Support the continued implementation and optimization of the firm’s accounting systems and reporting tools.
  • Coordinate with outside advisors on audit, tax, and compliance matters.
  • Establish clear financial processes, reporting standards, and operational controls to support a growing organization.

What You Bring

  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a professional services environment.
  • Experience managing accounting operations in a high-volume, deadline-driven organization.
  • Strong background in cash management, financial reporting, and operational accounting processes.
  • Demonstrated success improving systems, processes, or accounting infrastructure.
  • Experience mentoring accounting staff and supporting team development.
  • Hands-on leadership style with the ability to balance strategy and day-to-day execution.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with leadership teams.
  • Experience with modern accounting systems or ERP platforms.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $150K+ depending on experience
  • Performance reviews at 90 days and 6 months
