Plaintiff Appellate Attorney – Florida
A nationally recognized plaintiff-side law firm with offices throughout the Central and Southeastern U.S. is seeking an experienced Appellate Attorney to join its Florida team. The firm has recovered over $1 billion for clients nationwide and is known for its aggressive, results-driven advocacy in personal injury, wrongful death, and property damage litigation.
About the Role
The Appellate Attorney will manage a diverse docket of appellate matters, providing critical trial support and strategic guidance on complex legal issues. This role involves handling all aspects of appellate litigation — from drafting persuasive briefs to presenting oral arguments before state and federal courts — while collaborating closely with trial counsel to shape litigation and appellate strategy.
Each Appellate Attorney manages approximately 10–20 active appeals and works directly with a dedicated paralegal for ongoing case support.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle all stages of appellate litigation, including brief writing, motions, and oral argument.
- Provide on-site legal trial support during active jury trials.
- Review and advise on substantive motions, including summary judgment and post-judgment filings.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research and draft well-reasoned briefs and memoranda.
- Collaborate with trial attorneys to develop effective litigation and appellate strategies.
- Stay up to date on developments in Florida appellate law and relevant case precedent.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior attorneys and legal staff.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active member of the Florida Bar, in good standing.
- 5+ years of appellate litigation experience, preferably on the plaintiff side.
- Proven record of appellate brief writing and oral argument experience.
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and tight deadlines effectively.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Commitment to integrity and client advocacy.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive base salary commensurate with experience.
- Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- 401(k) with firm match.
- Paid vacation, holidays, sick leave, and bereavement time.
- Employer-covered and voluntary supplemental insurance options.
