We are seeking an experienced Executive Sous Chef to join our upscale catering company in Palo Alto, CA. If you are a creative professional who has leadership experience working in professional kitchens and are looking to take your career to the next level, we would love to speak with you!

Job Responsibilities for the Executive Sous Chef:

  • Assist the Corporate Executive Chef with all of their responsibilities, including monitoring and scheduling staffing, assisting with the ordering process, training staff, leading food production, appropriately delegating tasks, reporting issues, and maintaining quality and cleanliness throughout the food production process.
  • Oversees all kitchen operations to ensure best practices are followed as defined by the Corporate Executive Chef
  • Communicates effectively with culinary staff
  • Ensure employees are achieving the standards set by the Corporate Executive Chef
  • Promotes team spirit daily by connecting individually with culinary team members and ensuring their needs are heard and met
  • Maintains overall cleanliness of the kitchen 
  • Attends department staff meetings as directed
  • Applies and maintains ServeSafe, HACCP, and Company standards for safe and presentable food practices.

Qualifications for the Executive Sous Chef:

Proven cooking experience as a sous chef or line cook with leadership responsibilities

Highly practiced at preparing and cooking in a professional kitchen and instructing others on best methods for execution, culinary school diploma preferred

Must be a creative, flexible and quick-thinking problem solver to effectively manage challenges that occur in the kitchen

Familiar with and comfortable operating all equipment in a professional kitchen

Expert, effective communication skills and team leader

Strong knowledge of culinary industry best practices

Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks

Extensive knowledge of menu/food preparation and food combinations

Working Knowledge of health and safety rules in a professional kitchen

Excellent knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures

Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks

Strong manual dexterity for operating machinery and using kitchen tools

Very good physical condition and endurance
