Hebrew Teacher

A coeducational Modern Orthodox school located in Dallas, Texas, seeks a passionate and skilled Hebrew teacher to join our dynamic educational team. The position includes teaching Ivrit b’Ivrit (Hebrew language instruction in Hebrew) across various grade levels and collaborating with colleagues to strengthen students’ Hebrew language acquisition and love for Israeli culture and identity. As an innovative Jewish day school, the candidate will also enjoy opportunities to contribute to programming beyond the classroom.

Qualifications

  • Teaching certification or a relevant degree is preferred
  • Has native or near-native fluency in Hebrew and proficiency in teaching it as a second language
  • Brings experience with curriculum design and instructional strategies aligned with proficiency-based language instruction
  •  Forms deep and meaningful relationships with students
  • Is excited to work in a Modern Orthodox, Zionist Jewish day school 
  • Communicates effectively in both Hebrew and English
  • Collaborates well with colleagues across disciplines
  • Is reflective, growth-oriented, and committed to ongoing professional development

Responsibilities

  • Teach Hebrew language classes full-time across Middle and/or Upper School 
  • Implement engaging and immersive instruction
  • Design lessons that foster the development of all four language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing)
  •  Use a variety of assessments to monitor progress and differentiate instruction
  • Collaborate with Hebrew and Judaic Studies faculty on interdisciplinary programming
  • Participate in school-wide events such as Israeli chagim and cultural celebrations (Yom HaAtzmaut, Yom HaZikaron, etc.)
  • Maintain a classroom culture that promotes respect, engagement, and enthusiasm for Hebrew 
  • Support students’ personal growth and connection to the Hebrew language and Israeli culture
  • Uphold the mission and values of Akiba Yavneh Academy in all professional interactions
