A distinguished private collection exceeding $45M in value seeks an accomplished Curator & Collections Manager to oversee preservation, curation, and strategic management of an internationally significant art collection. This role requires museum-level expertise and the discretion, rigor, and operational excellence expected in world-class cultural institutions.

Curator & Collections Manager – Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Proven track record managing art collections at the museum or gallery level (e.g., Louvre, Metropolitan Museum of Art caliber)
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Art History, Museum Studies, or Conservation strongly preferred
  • Deep knowledge of cataloging systems, provenance research, and collection preservation standards
  • Strong financial and operational acumen with experience managing budgets, insurance, and vendor relationships

Must Haves – Curator & Collections Manager:

  • Expertise in cataloging, provenance verification, and inventory control for high-value art collections
  • Hands-on experience in exhibition planning, preservation, and risk management
  • Exceptional discretion, calm under pressure, and ability to manage confidential information
  • Flexible schedule and adaptability to support collection needs and exhibition deadlines

Curator & Collections Manager – Preferred Background & Skills:

  • Master’s in Art History, Museum Studies, or Conservation
  • Membership in professional organizations such as the Appraisers Association of America, International Society of Appraisers, or Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS Art & Antiques)
  • Established network of art world experts, appraisers, and conservators
  • Knowledge of art market trends and valuation practices
