Scrapyard Facility Manager

Seeking an experienced Facility Manager to oversee day-to-day operations at a full-service scrap yard. This role is responsible for health and safety and environmental compliance, inventory accuracy, inter-yard material flow, and ensuring production volume goals are met through coordination with the Commercial team. The manager will also lead continuous improvement efforts and supervise production and maintenance teams to drive performance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities for Scrap Yard Facility Manager

  • Ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance in collaboration with regional teams.
  • Oversee daily operations, drive production goals, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor equipment readiness and maintenance practices to support operational efficiency.
  • Manage inventory accuracy, material flow, and enforce quality control standards.
  • Operate within established budgets and contribute to capital planning for future growth.

Qualifications Needed for Scrap Yard Facility Manager

  • 5–10 years of experience in steel scrapyard operations with strong knowledge of physical plant processes and personnel oversight
  • College degree preferred; coursework in business or operations management is a plus
  • Strong leadership, analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Project management experience or specialized technical knowledge is desirable
  • Valid driver’s license required; must be able to operate a vehicle and use computers with intermediate proficiency
