Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage procurement of produce and food products, ensuring appropriate inventory levels and timely delivery.
  • Develop and maintain strong vendor partnerships; source alternatives when needed to ensure supply continuity.
  • Monitor market trends to anticipate pricing and availability changes.
  • Track purchases and pricing, and collaborate with finance to ensure accurate cost reporting.
  • Analyze product yields, food costs, and shrinkage to identify opportunities for savings and efficiency.
  • Partner with Quality Control to ensure all incoming products meet required standards.

Qualifications (Must Have):

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 3+ years of procurement or food buying experience.
  • Deep understanding of the food distribution or produce industry.

  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and a passion for food.

Preferred:

  • Experience with purchasing software or WMS platforms (e.g., Produce Pro).
  • Background in building or refining procurement systems and processes.

Growth Path:

  • Months 1–3: Onboard to procurement systems and workflows, begin managing produce purchasing.
  • Months 3–12: Take full ownership of food cost tracking, vendor performance, and process optimization.
  • 1 Year+: Opportunity to grow into senior leadership, mentor junior team members, and drive strategic sourcing initiatives across the organization.
