Join a Leader in Electrical Systems Innovation – Mechanical Design Engineer (Medium Voltage)
Our client is an established innovator in the electrical power distribution sector, known for delivering reliable solutions across industrial and commercial markets. With expansion plans well underway, they are seeking skilled Mechanical Design Engineers to support their growing customer demand. This role centers on designing mechanical systems for medium voltage applications with a focus on precision, compliance, and manufacturability.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Create and revise detailed engineering drawings and documentation for production, including fabrication specs and Bills of Materials.
- Engineer custom sheet metal enclosures for medium voltage electrical systems, ensuring full compliance with ANSI and NEMA standards.
- Produce clear and comprehensive equipment layouts including front views, side elevations, cross-sections, and rigging/lifting instructions.
- Translate electrical BOMs into physical layout designs for optimal component arrangement.
- Collaborate with sales and channel partners to provide technical design insights and support.
- Contribute to internal process improvement and quality enhancement efforts to uphold industry-leading standards.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years of related experience, or an Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology with equivalent hands-on expertise.
- Strong background in sheet metal design for electrical applications, especially within medium voltage systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent drafting software.
- Familiarity with UL, ANSI, and NEMA codes for indoor and outdoor electrical enclosures.
- Bonus if you’ve worked with utility requirements from organizations like EUSERC, ComEd, WE Energies, or PSE&G.
