Medical Malpractice Paralegal (Hybrid – Washington, DC)
We are currently seeking an experienced Medical Malpractice Paralegal to join a well-established litigation team in Washington, DC. This is a full-time, hybrid position supporting attorneys in complex medical malpractice matters. The ideal candidate brings strong experience working with medical records, expert coordination, and trial preparation in a fast-paced legal environment.
This role is primarily in-office (4 days/week) with 1 remote day and offers competitive hourly compensation and comprehensive benefits.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtain, organize, review, and summarize extensive medical records and related documentation
- Draft detailed medical chronologies and case summaries
- Assist with identifying, retaining, and coordinating medical expert witnesses
- Manage case calendars, deadlines, appointments, and litigation schedules
- Support attorneys with trial preparation, including exhibit organization and evidence tracking
- Conduct factual and legal research to support case strategy
- Maintain accurate case files and perform additional litigation support tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of paralegal experience, with medical malpractice experience required
- Prior experience in personal injury or complex litigation strongly preferred
- Nursing or clinical background (RN, LPN, or similar) is a plus, but not required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Proficiency with legal case management systems and standard office software
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and staff
Compensation & Benefits
- $65,000-$70,000, depending on experience
