Job Overview

The Chief Engineer is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of safety, security, and operational excellence within a luxury hotel environment. This role oversees all engineering and maintenance functions, ensuring a safe, efficient, and aesthetically pleasing property while leading a skilled team to deliver exceptional guest experiences. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with strong leadership and customer service skills.

Chief Engineer Requirements:

  • Observe and adhere to all safety and security procedures, promoting a safe work environment.
  • Provide proper safety and security training for staff.
  • Demonstrate initiative by seeking out new assignments and assuming additional duties when necessary.
  • Undertake self-development activities to enhance technical and leadership skills.
  • Include appropriate stakeholders in decision-making processes.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written formats.
  • Practice attentive and active listening with all employees.
  • Perform work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Follow instructions and respond promptly to management direction.

Chief Engineer Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Chief Engineer or Engineering Manager in a luxury hotel or similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Ability to mentor and develop staff, fostering a culture of safety and excellence.
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs and perform physical tasks such as climbing, stooping, and kneeling.
  • Comfortable working in indoor/outdoor environments with moderate to high noise levels and occasional work in high-level areas (roofs, decks, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
