Upholstery Buyer – Retail & Home Furnishings
Our client, a well-established leader in the retail and home furnishings industry, is seeking a strategic, forward-thinking Upholstery Buyer to elevate their in-store and online product assortment. This role goes beyond traditional buying—it requires a true merchant with a sharp eye for design, financial acumen, and the ability to connect product storytelling with margin-driving strategy. The Upholstery Buyer will drive category performance, lead cross-functional collaboration, and shape the future of the upholstery category across showroom and digital platforms.

Upholstery Buyer Responsibilities:
- Own and execute strategic buying plans for upholstery categories
- Build product assortments that drive showroom traffic and online conversion
- Guide line reviews and lifecycle planning for new and existing product lines
- Manage vendor negotiations, pricing strategies, and promotional opportunities
- Collaborate with marketing, ecommerce, and store operations to deliver cohesive merchandising strategies
- Monitor sales trends and inventory performance to optimize margin and minimize risk
- Travel to markets and trade shows; domestic and international travel up to 75%
Upholstery Buyer Requirements/Qualifications:
- 10+ years of progressive buying or merchandising experience
- 3–5 years in a senior or category lead buying role
- Brick-and-mortar retail experience required; upholstery or large furniture buying strongly preferred
- Proven ability to develop and scale data-driven assortment and pricing strategies
- Strong business acumen and financial literacy with a focus on margin improvement
- High-level process discipline in vendor negotiations and open-to-buy management
- Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/Merchandising systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, or related field preferred
