Executive Chef Requirements & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as an Executive Chef in a high-volume, scratch kitchen environment
  • Proven history of success overseeing annual sales of $7M+
  • 5+ years of progressive kitchen leadership roles (Sous Chef and above)
  • Strong tenure and demonstrated loyalty in prior roles
  • Experience managing budgets and controlling food and labor costs
  • Ability to oversee and lead teams of 10+ BOH staff
  • High energy, passion for food, and people-first leadership style
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, scheduling platforms, and POS systems

Executive Chef Responsibilities

  • Partner with Directors and General Managers to achieve financial and operational targets
  • Lead menu and concept development initiatives
  • Ensure consistent execution of recipes, portioning, and quality standards
  • Maintain adequate stock and product levels by utilizing prep lists, pars, and recipe yields
  • Oversee cleanliness and maintenance of kitchen equipment
  • Manage controllable expenses, including food cost, small wares, and labor cost
  • Hire, train, coach, and develop culinary team members
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations
