We’re seeking a Senior Dam Safety Engineer with deep expertise in geotechnical engineering and dam safety evaluations. This leadership role is ideal for someone with FERC Part 12 Independent Consultant approval—or the experience to qualify—and a passion for risk-based analysis and infrastructure resilience.
You’ll play a pivotal role in guiding project teams, mentoring junior staff, and shaping the future of our dam safety services. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate design teams for FERC and state-regulated dam safety projects
- Conduct dam safety evaluations, including FERC Part 12 inspections
- Design earthen embankments and perform geotechnical assessments for dams and civil works
- Develop and analyze geotechnical monitoring and testing programs
- Review construction sequencing, design plans/specs, and permitting documents
- Represent the firm in technical discussions with regulators, clients, and public forums
- Author and review technical reports and project documentation
- Mentor engineers in technical execution and career development
- Support proposal writing, cost estimating, and project scheduling
Qualifications
- B.S. in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (M.S. preferred)
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with willingness to maintain multi-state registrations
- FERC Part 12 Independent Consultant approval or eligibility
- Comprehensive Assessments expert
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Experience with risk-based analysis preferred
- 10+ years of experience in:
- Dam safety evaluations and geotechnical design
- Project management and client engagement
- Earthquake response analysis for embankments
- Proposal development and team mentoring
- Familiarity with federal/state dam safety standards
- Some travel required to project sites
