Job Title: Load Rating Bridge Engineer
Location: Boston
Employment Type: Full-time/Hybrid
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Load Rating Bridge Engineer to perform structural evaluations and load ratings on a variety of bridge types. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, experience with AASHTOWare BrR or similar tools, and a solid understanding of AASHTO and FHWA standards.
Responsibilities:
- Perform bridge load ratings using AASHTO and FHWA guidelines.
- Analyze structural capacity using tools such as AASHTOWare BrR, LARS, SAP2000, or STAAD.
- Review inspection reports, plans, and field data to support rating analyses.
- Prepare clear and accurate rating reports and documentation.
- Recommend load postings and coordinate with inspection/design teams.
- Support bridge rehabilitation and replacement projects.
- Stay current with evolving codes, tools, and agency requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in Civil Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- MA PE license required or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- 3+ years of bridge load rating/structural analysis experience.
- Proficiency in AASHTOWare BrR and related software.
- Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD and DOT/FHWA procedures.
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with steel, concrete, prestressed, or timber bridges.
- Familiarity with NBIS and state DOT requirements.
- FHWA load rating training or certifications are a plus.
