Position Overview:

The Private City Club is seeking a highly skilled and artistic Cake Decorator to join our distinguished culinary team. This individual will play a pivotal role in the execution of high-end custom cakes and plated desserts, contributing to weddings, special events, member celebrations, and a la carte service. We are looking for a passionate professional with a strong background in advanced decorating techniques, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to bring creative visions to life through sugar and chocolate artistry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and decorate elegant wedding cakes, celebration cakes, and custom figurines to meet member specifications and event themes
• Create stunning chocolate showpieces and desserts using techniques such as tempering, molding, and sculpting
• Execute intricate pulled and blown sugar showpieces and accents
• Work with fondant, gum paste, and royal icing to produce high-end finishes and complex decorations
• Craft a la carte plated desserts with artistic presentation in collaboration with the Pastry Chef
• Maintain inventory and monitor stock of decorating supplies and ingredients
• Ensure quality control of all products leaving the pastry kitchen
• Keep a clean and organized workstation adhering to health and safety regulations
• Collaborate with the culinary team on menu development, seasonal features, and special events

Qualifications:

• 3–5 years of professional experience in cake decorating or pastry arts within a luxury or high-volume environment
• Advanced knowledge and proficiency in:
  • Figurine modeling
  • Wedding cake design and tier construction
  • Chocolate work (tempering, sculpting, décor)
  • Pulled and blown sugar techniques
  • Fondant and gum paste application
• Degree or certification in Pastry Arts is preferred
• Strong aesthetic sense, color theory, and artistic design skills
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and meet tight deadlines under pressure
• Self-motivated, team-oriented, and committed to excellence in presentation and taste
• Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, based on business needs
