We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead the HR function for our growing civil construction company in the San Francisco Bay Area. This strategic, hands-on role oversees all aspects of HR for a diverse workforce across multiple job sites, including union and non-union employees, with a focus on compliance, culture, employee relations, and talent development.

 

Human Resources Manager Benefits and Compensation

 

·       A competitive base salary ranging from $100,000 to $120,000

·       7% annual profit sharing and a 10% annual bonus potential

·       Health coverage

·       401(k) with a 3% company match

 

Human Resources Manager Requirements:

 

·       A bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field

·       7–10 years of progressive HR experience, including 3–5 years in a leadership role

·       Prior experience in construction, engineering, or heavy civil industries is strongly preferred

·       A deep understanding of California labor law, HR compliance, and safety requirement

·       Experience with union labor relations and collective bargaining, strong employee relations skills

·       Proficiency in HRIS platforms like ADP, Paycom, or Viewpoint Vista

·       Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, project-driven environment

 

Human Resources Manager Preferred Background

 

·       Extensive experience in the construction, engineering, or heavy civil industries

·       A proven track record of managing HR for both office and field-based employees

·       Hands-on experience with union labor relations and collective bargaining agreements, crucial for navigating the complexities of a diverse workforce

·       A strong background in ensuring compliance with California state and federal labor laws, including prevailing wage, certified payroll, and OSHA requirements

·       Demonstrated ability to develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business goals, partner with executive leadership

·       Foster a positive, inclusive culture across diverse teams.

·       Experience in talent acquisition, training and development, and performance management is highly valued.
