Principal Software Engineer – AI & Insuretech Innovation

Onsite Boston or NYC | $180-200K Base + Equity

We aim to revolutionize the trillion-dollar decentralized program/MGA and legacy casualty (re)insurance segments with cutting-edge AI-driven financial infrastructure. Backed by Lightspeed Venture Partners and top fintech and insurance angels, we’re building an industry-first federated learning platform and agentic AI underwriting capabilities. As a Principal Software Engineer, you’ll help shape our technology, scale our systems, and drive real impact in an exploding green field market. What You'll Do:

  • Architect & Build: Design and implement scalable, AI-driven systems to power our analytics and financial infrastructure.
  • Shape Our Tech Strategy: Provide technical leadership, influence our roadmap, and mentor fellow engineers.
  • Innovate with AI & Data: Develop solutions for processing unstructured data, large-scale datasets, and AI-driven risk analysis.
  • Ensure Security & Scalability: Build robust, high-performance systems with strong security and data protection measures.
  • Collaborate with Leadership: Work closely with executives and domain experts to drive product and technical direction.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience: 7+ years in full-stack, AI/model engineering, or production systems development. Startup experience is highly valued.
  • Tech Stack: Proficiency in AWS, PostgreSQL, Python; familiarity with TypeScript, workflow orchestration, and AI model/prompt engineering.
  • Product & Project Ownership: Proven ability to lead end-to-end development in a fast-paced environment.
  • Big Data & AI Expertise: Experience with unstructured data, LLMs, and AI-driven financial or analytical applications.
  • Industry Knowledge: Prior exposure to Property & Liability (P&L), Business Owner's Policy (BOP), or insurtech is highly valued.
