We are seeking a Distributed Generation Engineer to support the integration of distributed energy resources, particularly solar projects, into the electric grid. This role will be responsible for evaluating project feasibility, conducting technical assessments, and collaborating with developers, consultants, and internal teams to ensure efficient and reliable interconnections. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, utility distribution systems, and project coordination.

Distributed Generation Engineer Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze solar developer documentation to assess project feasibility and completeness.
  • Utilize CYME and GIS software to screen distribution projects and evaluate grid impact.
  • Coordinate with external consultants to initiate and review distributed generation (DG) interconnection studies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Asset Management and other departments, to streamline project development.
  • Develop preliminary engineering designs and cost estimates based on study findings.
  • Engage with solar developers to review project scopes, cost estimates, and technical requirements.
  • Maintain accurate project records and documentation throughout the study and interconnection process.

Distributed Generation Engineer Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in transmission and distribution (T&D) utility operations preferred.
  • Proficiency in CYME, GIS, and other electrical system analysis tools preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Self-motivated with a strong commitment to continuous learning and process improvement.
