Sous Chef/Kitchen Manager – Austin, TX

Sous Chef/Kitchen Manager Requirements & Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Food Manager Certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of kitchen management or sous chef experience in high-volume environments (over $2M+ annual sales)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to follow procedures and hold a team to high standards

Sous Chef/Kitchen Manager Preferred Background & Skills

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
  • Experience with casual-upscale or chef-driven restaurants (not fine dining)
  • Knowledge of the Austin dining scene and restaurant culture
  • Dynamic, charismatic, and engaging leadership style
  • Self-starter with strong ownership mentality

Sous Chef/Kitchen Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, and mentor kitchen staff, setting high standards for food quality and service
  • Oversee kitchen scheduling, inventory control, and supplier ordering to maximize efficiency and control costs
  • Ensure consistently excellent food presentation and adherence to recipe specifications
  • Implement portion control and waste reduction procedures for optimal kitchen performance
  • Maintain compliance with health and safety guidelines, keeping the kitchen clean and organized
  • Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth service and elevated guest experiences
  • Address guest requests and feedback promptly and professionally
  • Prepare operational reports on kitchen performance, staff productivity, and inventory
