Senior Mechanical Project Manager Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline
  • 10+ years of industry-related experience in mechanical systems design for commercial, government, or multifamily sectors
  • 5+ years of project management experience
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, REVIT, and building modeling software such as TraneTrace or eQuest
  • Thorough understanding of business and financial principles for consulting projects; familiarity with municipal codes and regulations
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license and/or EIT and LEED accreditation strongly preferred

Senior Mechanical Project Manager Preferred Background & Skills

  • Proven innovation, leadership, and creative problem-solving abilities
  • Strong client relationship management and business development mindset
  • Experience mentoring or developing junior staff

Senior Mechanical Project Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Lead all phases of complex mechanical design projects, ensuring timely, on-budget delivery and adherence to quality standards
  • Mentor and guide junior project managers and design engineers
  • Oversee project development, including scoping, budgeting, and technical execution
  • Foster client relationships, serve as the primary project contact, and resolve inquiries or technical questions
  • Direct the preparation of project documents, specifications, estimates, and reports
  • Collaborate with internal departments, clients, and external stakeholders to achieve project goals
  • Conduct field investigations and provide technical support during construction and project closeout
  • Actively participate in business development, marketing meetings, and client presentations
