Mechanical Project Engineer Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or architectural engineering required.
  • 5+ years of mechanical (HVAC) design experience in commercial, government, academic, R&D, high-rise multi-family, or industrial projects.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and relevant HVAC modeling software (CHVAC/RHVAC, TraneTrace, and/or eQuest).
  • EIT and LEED accreditation strongly preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.

Mechanical Project Engineer Preferred Background & Skills

  • Strong mentoring and team leadership ability.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
  • Demonstrated project management and organization capabilities.

Mechanical Project Engineer Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Perform all levels of mechanical (HVAC) design, including creating detailed construction documents.
  • Oversee complete project lifecycle, from planning through construction and completion.
  • Review work by junior staff for quality assurance, and serve as a mentor and technical resource.
  • Lead or participate in client meetings, providing project updates and coordinating design solutions.
  • Conduct site visits to document existing field conditions and monitor construction progress.
  • Develop project specifications, construction budgets, and cost estimates.
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes and company quality standards.
