Position Overview

A well-established construction firm is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to support healthcare construction projects throughout New York City. This role is ideal for a developing field professional with a strong safety mindset, attention to detail, and hands-on experience assisting with trade coordination, quality control, and project closeout.


Knowledge

  • General understanding of the Site Safety Plan
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, NYCDOB, and FDNY regulations
  • General knowledge of Local Law 196
  • Understanding of LEED material requirements

Responsibilities

  • Participate in foreman meetings for trade-specific coordination
  • Understand and assist with jobsite layout
  • Participate in PTP/JHA meetings; review, collect, and file documentation
  • Collect and review daily huddles
  • Participate in or assist with IIF committee meetings
  • Perform weekly quality DBO2 inspections
  • Review and verify materials delivered to the jobsite
  • Understand plans, specifications, and contracts to assist in managing assigned specialty partners
  • Maintain permit logs and ensure permits are properly posted
  • Understand Exhibit A requirements for assigned trade scopes
  • Understand general project schedules and trade-specific schedules
  • Track manpower for assigned trades
  • Assist in reviewing change order scope and schedule impacts
  • Support inspections and track NCRs through closeout
  • Assist with punch list and project closeout activities

Qualifications & Abilities

  • Demonstrated leadership potential
  • Strong communication skills with internal teams and external trade partners
  • Ability to read and understand task-specific logistics plans
  • Understanding of ROJ logs and material storage planning
  • Ability to recognize risks and hazards on the jobsite
  • Strong attention to detail
  • 1–2 years of healthcare construction experience required

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $80,000 – $85,000
