The Opportunity
A well-established, full-service regional law firm is seeking a mid-to-senior level Associate to join its expanding Environmental practice. You will work directly with seasoned Partners on high-stakes matters involving complex site remediation, regulatory compliance, and brownfields redevelopment. This is an ideal role for an attorney looking for significant autonomy and a clear path to leadership within a Chambers-rated practice group.
Core Responsibilities
- Regulatory Advocacy: Represent clients before the EPA and state regulatory bodies regarding enforcement actions and compliance mandates.
- Project Oversight: Manage contaminated site projects from initial investigation through to final closure/No Further Action (NFA) status.
- Strategic Counseling: Advise on state and federal cleanup programs (including CERCLA/RCRA) and risk-based corrective actions.
- Transactional Support: Provide environmental due diligence for complex real estate transactions and redevelopment projects.
Candidate Profile
- Experience: 4+ years of dedicated environmental law experience in a private firm or regulatory setting.
- Credentials: JD from an accredited law school; active NJ Bar membership in good standing.
- Expertise: Solid understanding of NJ-specific environmental statutes and voluntary cleanup programs.
