Position Overview

This role oversees all brewing and cellar operations, with direct responsibility for beer quality, process consistency, and production readiness. The Director of Brewing Operations works hands-on alongside the brewing team while also establishing documentation, training, and controls that support reliable output.

This is not a remote or purely administrative position. The job requires a consistent on-site presence and active involvement in daily production.

Core Responsibilities:

• Direct all brewing, fermentation, and cellar activities
• Ensure consistency and adherence to defined beer styles
• Maintain and improve QA/QC programs and sanitation practices
• Review and approve recipes, raw materials, and process updates
• Build and maintain scalable brewing and cellar processes
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, yield, and throughput
• Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, and regulatory standards
• Lead, train, and develop a team of brewers and cellar staff
• Establish clear expectations for performance, cleanliness, and professionalism
• Create documentation and training tools that reduce single-point knowledge risk
• Coordinate production schedules with broader business needs
• Collaborate with operations and leadership on capacity planning
• Communicate constraints, risks, and timelines clearly and proactively

Experience & Qualifications:

• 7+ years of professional brewing experience
• Demonstrated success leading brewing teams
• Strong technical foundation in brewing science and cellar operations
• Experience operating or improving production systems at scale
• Experience in growth-stage or multi-site breweries
• Formal brewing education or industry certifications
• Familiarity with packaging operations
