Sous Chef

Sous Chef Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience as a Senior Sous Chef, Executive Sous Chef, or Head Chef in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to provide honest feedback with compassion and emotional intelligence
  • Proven ability to uphold outstanding food quality, health standards, and kitchen safety protocols
  • Strong understanding of kitchen financials: GP, labor management, inventory, and stock control
  • A motivational leader committed to team success

Sous Chef Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Lead by example, creating a positive, inclusive kitchen environment where your team feels supported and celebrated
  • Develop and mentor culinarians at all levels, fostering continuous growth
  • Ensure every dish is prepared to exceptional standards, equipping your team with the necessary skills
  • Maintain impeccable food safety, sanitation, and kitchen health standards
  • Support all aspects of kitchen financial performance including COGS, labor costs, waste reduction, and stock control
  • Partner with the Head Chef to recruit, train, and build a strong, cohesive team rooted in culture and accountability
