Batch Chemical Manufacturing | Tolling Environment

Location: Chattanooga, TN area (On-site)

A growing chemical manufacturer is hiring two Process Engineers to support rapid expansion at a batch chemical manufacturing facility. These are hands-on, plant-facing roles focused on execution, operational support, and scaling new work into production.

The Opportunity

This is not an R&D or desk-only role. Process Engineers are expected to be on the plant floor, solving problems, implementing improvements, and translating customer chemistries into reliable, repeatable manufacturing processes.

You will work alongside an experienced senior engineer, but must be capable of operating independently, owning problems, and moving quickly. The ideal engineer is practical, action-oriented, and relentless — someone who prefers progress over perfection while maintaining safety and discipline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day plant support and troubleshooting
  • Implement new customer processes and chemistries into manufacturing
  • Drive lean improvements in batch operations (cycle time, throughput, yield)
  • Support SOPs, process changes, and safe scale-up activities
  • Work closely with operations, maintenance, lab, and warehouse teams
  • Spec basic equipment and process improvements (pumps, instruments, etc.)
  • Support trials, startups, and occasional off-shift activities as needed

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering strongly preferred
  • Experience in batch chemical manufacturing highly preferred
  • Tolling experience not required
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, low-bureaucracy environment
  • Strong plant presence and willingness to own problems
  • Ability to move quickly without compromising safety
  • Lean/CI mindset and continuous improvement orientation

Exact chemistry experience is less important than batch process thinking and execution capability.

Why This Role

  • Immediate impact and visibility
  • Exposure to multiple chemistries and processes
  • Real autonomy and responsibility
  • Opportunity to grow quickly in a scaling organization
  • Direct access to decision-makers
