We are seeking a Patent Agent with at least 1+ year of patent prosecution experience to join a nationally recognized corporate practice in San Diego. The ideal candidate will have experience in patent drafting and prosecution within technologies such as software, hardware/devices, artificial intelligence, wireless systems, database technologies, or signal/image processing.

Patent Agent Responsibilities

Review invention disclosure documents and participate in invention disclosure meetings
Conduct prior art searches and analyze patentability of inventions
Draft and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO
Review office actions, develop response strategies, conduct examiner interviews, and prepare responses
Manage U.S. and international patent prosecution dockets
Perform patent analysis for due diligence and freedom-to-operate assessments

Patent Agent Requirements

At least 1+ year of patent prosecution experience
USPTO registration required
Technical background in computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or related field
Experience with one or more relevant technologies (software, AI, hardware/devices, wireless, database systems, signal/image processing)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Prior law firm experience preferred
