Mobile Diesel Technician – Local Route | Fast-Track Career Path
The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for performing repairs, adjustments, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance on a fleet of company vehicles powered by both gasoline and diesel engines. This role ensures fleet reliability, safety, and compliance by following established preventative maintenance (PM) policies and procedures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on company vehicles in accordance with PM schedules
- Diagnose and repair gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles
- Perform diagnosis and repair of brake systems, electrical systems, powertrain components, and HVAC systems
- Accurately document all services, repairs, and maintenance performed
- Identify the root cause of mechanical failures, including normal wear, material defects, or improper operation
- Notify the Maintenance Supervisor of any suspected or confirmed misuse or abuse of vehicles or equipment
- Respond to road calls and breakdowns as needed
- Stay current with industry trends, tools, and repair techniques
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Georgia Driver’s License required
- Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on mechanic experience preferred
- Successful completion of an industry-recognized trade school or college program required
- Experience diagnosing and repairing gasoline and diesel engines
- Proven experience with electrical, braking, HVAC, and powertrain systems
- Certification to procure refrigerant gases and oils for air-conditioning systems preferred
- Must provide own tools
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in automotive and mechanical repair
- Working knowledge of gasoline and diesel engine operation and repair
- Ability to diagnose, adjust, and repair complex mechanical and automotive systems
- Experience servicing vehicles ranging from passenger cars up to one (1) ton trucks
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, charts, and diagrams
- Strong attention to detail with accurate recordkeeping skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
