Sous Chef Requirements & Qualifications
- 2–4 years of culinary leadership experience as a sous chef or strong lead line cook
- Experience in high-volume, resort, or seasonal operations preferred
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, production systems, and kitchen management
- ServSafe Manager certification or equivalent
- Availability to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours during peak seasons
Sous Chef Preferred Background & Skills
- Background in banquets, multi-outlet properties, or family-friendly venues
- Experience managing inventory, cost control, and vendor relationships
- Comfort adapting to fluctuating guest volumes due to weather or events
Sous Chef Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Oversee daily food production for restaurants, cafés, quick-service outlets, and banquet operations
- Ensure consistent execution of recipes, portion control, cooking techniques, and presentation standards
- Supervise, train, and motivate culinary staff, leading pre-shift meetings and daily production planning
- Maintain inventory, assist with ordering and cost control, and support monthly inventory counts
- Enforce all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards and maintain organized workstations
- Support special resort events, pop-ups, and outdoor or mobile food operations
- Collaborate closely with front-of-house teams to ensure seamless guest experiences
