This role sits at the center of the organization’s financial operations and will work closely with senior leadership, lenders, auditors, and internal finance partners to ensure accuracy, transparency, and scalability as the portfolio continues to grow.

Corporate Financial Controller Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

• Active CPA license required

• 8+ years of accounting experience within commercial real estate

• Background combining public accounting (Big Four preferred) and private industry

• Deep knowledge of US GAAP (IFRS exposure a plus)

• Proven ownership of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close

• Strong experience with Yardi

• Experience researching and documenting technical accounting matters

• Demonstrated ability to manage, mentor, and develop accounting teams

Corporate Financial Controller Must-Haves

• Own and lead all close processes, including reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, and financial statement preparation

• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, chart of accounts, accounting policies, and audit-ready documentation

• Oversee AP and AR workflows, including rent, expense allocations, and corrections

• Manage property-level performance calculations and promote allocations

• Review and ensure accuracy and timeliness of internal and external reporting

• Handle transaction accounting for acquisitions, dispositions, and refinances, including post-close standardization

• Coordinate closely with external auditors and support year-end audits

• Support lender reporting, compliance portals, and investor inquiries

• Partner with the finance team on budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling

• Prepare cash flow forecasts and operating budgets for leadership review

• Develop and enhance financial policies, procedures, and internal controls that scale with growth

Corporate Financial Controller Preferred Background & Skills

• 3+ years at a Big Four firm

• Experience in real estate development or mixed-use portfolios

• Exposure to multi-entity, complex ownership structures

• Experience working directly with lenders and institutional investors

• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment

• Business-minded approach with the ability to translate numbers into insights
