Assistant Project Manager – Sewage Treatment Plant Project – Coachella Valley, CA
Join a respected civil construction firm delivering a major sewage treatment plant build for a large water district client. This is an opportunity to expand your project experience on a high-impact infrastructure project. You'll work closely with a dedicated team, gaining hands-on exposure and mentorship as you advance toward future project management roles.
Assistant Project Manager Benefits & Compensation
- Competitive salary range ($100,000–$120,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications)

Assistant Project Manager Requirements & Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on construction project experience, ideally in heavy civil, utilities, or wastewater/treatment plant projects
- Project support background with a contractor (coordinator, junior PM, field engineer, or similar roles)
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and multitasking skills
- Clear, professional communication skills for both written and verbal exchanges with various project stakeholders
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Excel, Procore, Bluebeam, or similar software
- Proactive problem-solving approach
- Valid driver's license required
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to work on active construction sites, with physical demands as needed (standing, walking, lifting up to 25–50 lbs occasionally)
Assistant Project Manager Preferred Background & Skills
- Previous experience on wastewater or sewage treatment plant projects
- OSHA 10/30, Competent Person training, or related safety certifications
- Knowledge of California construction regulations (SWPPP, water project permits)
- Familiarity with change orders, RFIs, or submittals in construction software
Assistant Project Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Track and update schedules, submittals, change orders, and daily progress
- Serve as backup on-site contact for the contractor, and coordinate with subcontractors, engineers, owners, and other stakeholders
- Support field activities: manage deliveries, subcontractor work, site logistics, and safety plans
- Monitor budgets, process invoices and purchase orders, and flag issues
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, safety records, and closeout materials
- Attend and document safety meetings and ensure compliance with all safety regulations
- Help organize pre-construction, set up meetings, and assist with initial project planning
- Communicate project updates, track changes, and support issue resolution
- Mentor and support junior staff while handling administrative tasks for the team
